Apple Expands Self Service Rep air to iPad and Enhances Access for Independent Repair Providers

Apple is officially adding iPad to its Self Service Repair program, giving owners of the newest models access to genuine Apple parts, repair manuals, tools, and diagnostics starting tomorrow. The expansion reinforces Apple’s commitment to supporting long-term product use and offering more repair options to both individuals and independent providers.

iPad Models Now Supported

With this update, Self Service Repair now includes:

  • iPad Air (M2 and later)

  • iPad Pro (M4)

  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)

  • iPad (A16)

Owners of these devices will be able to order Apple-certified components such as:

  • Displays

  • Batteries

  • Cameras

  • External charging ports

This move brings the total number of supported products in the program to 65, ranging from the iPhone 16e to MacBook Air and Mac Studio.

A Growing Global Footprint

Launched in 2022, Apple’s Self Service Repair program was designed for customers who are comfortable performing their own out-of-warranty repairs. Participants can purchase or rent official Apple tools, access detailed repair manuals, and even run Apple Diagnostics to troubleshoot hardware issues—just like Apple technicians do.

The program continues to expand geographically as well. Canada will become the 34th country to gain access to Self Service Repair this summer, reflecting Apple’s plan to make its repair services available to more users worldwide.

Genuine Parts Distributor Program Also Expanding

In addition to consumer repair access, Apple is expanding its Genuine Parts Distributor program—a recently launched initiative that allows independent mobile repair professionals to purchase Apple-certified parts and components through authorized third-party distributors.

Current distributors include:

  • MobileSentrix (U.S. and Europe)

  • Mobileparts.shop (Europe)

These distributors provide parts for iPhone repairs—including displays, batteries, and ports—and will begin offering iPad parts tomorrow, aligning with the consumer-side launch.

A Word from Apple

Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare, emphasized Apple’s long-term product philosophy, stating:
“Our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible. With today’s announcement, we’re excited to expand our repair services to more customers, enabling them to further extend the life of their products — all without compromising safety, security, or privacy.”

More Options, Same Standards

Whether you're a tech-savvy user wanting to fix your own iPad or a mobile repair professional looking for official Apple components, these updates provide more flexibility and more choices, all while maintaining Apple’s strict quality and safety standards.
