Apple Launches Free Repair Program for Mac mini (M2, 2023) Power Issue

If your 2023 Mac mini with M2 chip suddenly stopped powering on, you’re not alone—and Apple is stepping in to help. The company has officially launched a Mac mini Service Program targeting a rare “No Power” issue affecting a small number of units.

What’s the Issue?

According to Apple, some Mac mini (M2, 2023) units built between June 16, 2024, and November 23, 2024, may fail to turn on due to an internal hardware problem.

Apple emphasizes this affects only a very small percentage of units.

Free Repair Eligibility

To check if your Mac mini qualifies:

  • Visit Apple’s Serial Number Checker (link provided by Apple)

  • If eligible, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will repair the issue free of charge.

Your device will be inspected before service to confirm it qualifies.

Note: If there's unrelated damage (e.g., physical damage), you’ll need to fix that first—and it might not be free.

Program Coverage

  • This service program does not extend your warranty.

  • It covers eligible devices for 3 years from the original purchase date.

  • Apple may limit repairs to the original country of purchase.

How to Get It Fixed

Choose one of the following options:

  • Visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider

  • Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store

  • Or contact Apple Support for further guidance

If your Mac mini won’t turn on and falls within the affected date range, check your serial number as soon as possible. Free repair programs like this are time-limited and can save you from costly out-of-pocket fixes.
