Apple Stops Signing iOS 18.4.1, Blocking Downgrades

Apple has officially stopped signing iOS 18.4.1, which means users can no longer downgrade or restore to this firmware version. If you update or restore your device now, you’ll be automatically moved to iOS 18.5, the latest publicly available release.

This move is part of Apple’s ongoing effort to keep users on the most secure and up-to-date version of iOS.

Jailbreakers: Be Cautious

This change is particularly important for users interested in jailbreaking, who are generally advised to stay on the lowest firmware version possible to improve the chances of tool compatibility.

Here’s a quick summary of the current jailbreak landscape:

  • unc0ver and Taurine: Support iOS 14 to 14.8.1

  • Fugu14: Supports iOS 14.3 to 14.5.1 with untethered jailbreak

  • Fugu15 (Dev): Works on iOS 15 (developer-focused)

  • Fugu15 Max (Beta): Supports A12–A15 devices on iOS 15.0–15.4.1

  • Dopamine 2.4.5: Semi-untethered jailbreak for M1/A14 and earlier on iOS 16.5.1 and below

  • palera1n: Recently updated to support iPadOS 18 and iOS 17.3.1 for A11 devices and older

No iOS 18.6 Yet

As of now, Apple has not seeded iOS 18.6 to developers, so iOS 18.5 remains the current release for all users.
