iPhone 17 Air Battery Leak Shows Slim Design and 2900mAh Capacity — But There's a Twist
Share
A new leak from Majin Bu on X offered what appeared to be the first real look at the iPhone 17 Air’s battery, but there’s been an update: the images actually show the battery for the iPhone 17 Pro, not the Air model.
What the Leak Revealed
-
Capacity: ~2900mAh (initially attributed to the iPhone 17 Air).
-
Material: Steel casing, first introduced in the iPhone 16 Pro for better heat dissipation and durability.
-
Design: L-shaped module with precision welding, optimized to fit around a smaller logic board.
The use of steel could point to improved thermal performance, possibly enabling faster charging speeds—a rumored feature for the Pro series.
Why the Confusion?
Majin Bu initially linked the battery to the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to measure just 5.5mm thick and reportedly pack a 2800–2900mAh battery. That sparked speculation about Apple’s rumored dedicated battery case for the Air model.
However, Bu later corrected the post, confirming the part belongs to the U.S. and Chinese version of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Big Picture: iPhone 17 Lineup So Far
-
iPhone 17 Air: Super-slim design, likely smaller battery, horizontal “runway strip” camera.
-
iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max: New horizontal full-width camera bar, possible 8x optical zoom, advanced cooling system, and maybe a pro camera app.
-
Colors: Recent dummy leaks show a new orange finish for Pro models and fresh shades for standard and Air variants.
